Exporting Translated Files

Once your translation is complete (or at any point during the process), you can export your work back into the original file format.

How to Export

  1. Select a file in the sidebar that you want to export.
  2. In the bottom status bar, choose the output format from the format selector. Available formats depend on the source file type.
  3. Click the Export button (download icon) in the status bar.
  4. Choose where to save the exported file. Prism generates the translated document with all original formatting preserved.

Supported Export Formats

  • DOCXWord (.docx) — Paragraphs are rebuilt with the translated text.
  • XLSXExcel (.xlsx) — A bilingual spreadsheet is generated with source and target columns, labeled with their respective language codes.
  • XLIFFXLIFF (.xlf, .xliff, .sdlxliff) — Full round-trip fidelity. All metadata, notes, and structural elements from the original file are preserved.
  • TXTPlain Text (.txt) — Segments are joined back into flowing text.
⚠️
Important

Exporting does not modify your original source files. Prism always generates a new file. Your project database and Translation Memory are also unaffected by the export process.
